LiveWare 2.1 - Software for building
MPEG Video-Enabled Intranets
![]()
LiveWare 2.1 is a fully integrated client/server application for
building video intranets. The product can be used off-the-shelf to enable IP attached
devices to play stored or live video content, store live video to server, and as an
administrative station to manage the Optivision LiveSystems on the network.
Built on a robust set of Java classes, LiveWare can be used as a platform to develop a variety of custom applications for distance learning, telemedicine, video surveillance, training, digital video delivery, and many more. The LiveWare client supports both MPEG-1 software decoding and MPEG-2 hardware decoding.

Features - LiveWare 2.1 |

| Play Live Video | |||
|
LiveWare 2.1 has a page for viewing live channels. All critical SAP (Session Announcement Protocol) information is collected and displayed to the user. Then each channel can be highlighted and double clicked playing video on either the VGA monitor or output to TV (hardware decoder required). The user can also select a detailed list which uses the entire screen to display additional information. If a channel is added or removed each user's screen is automatically updated.
| Save Video to File | |||
|
While viewing live video the user can press one button and save to local or remote disk, or an Oracle video server. A "Save As" button allows the user to change default settings, including file name, save time, and file description. Once the file is saved it appears on the list of stored files available for playback.
| Play Stored Files | |||
|
The interface contains a page for viewing stored files. As files are saved to disk, the file information is recorded and then collected in a Java class for display on the interface. The user then highlights and double clicks a selection to play. Files stored anywhere on the network can be displayed, as well as files stored on an Oracle Video Server. Once a file is added or removed from the system it is automatically updated on each user's interface.
| LiveSystem Network Manager | |||
|
The LiveSystem network manager was designed to provide complete control of the encoding systems from any PC with a web browser on the network. The network manager application is launched from LiveWare 2.1 and immediately auto detects all the LiveSystem systems on the network, as well as save to file engines. The systems can then be individually selected in order to change the settings, such as video bitrate, destination address, save to server, etc.
